A compact view gets you scanning in seconds; a detailed view shows the preview and all settings side by side. Older systems keep the classic macOS scan interface.

new Decide where each scan goes with a single checkbox: leave it off for a fresh document every time, or turn it on to add pages to the document you are already working on.

new Two new compression presets, Grayscale and Black & White, shrink scanned documents even further - ideal for pure text scans, where files often end up a fraction of their previous size.

new Automate PDFify with App Shortcuts: compress a PDF, make it searchable with OCR, convert it to PDF/A, read out its text, or export the text as JSON - straight from Spotlight, the Shortcuts app, or Siri, without opening the app.

new See at a glance whether the open document is PDF/A right in the status bar (for example "PDF/A-1b").

new Fit imported images into more page sizes: A3, A5, US Legal, and Tabloid in addition to A4 and US Letter.

new Compression never enlarges a document: if a preset cannot make a file smaller, PDFify simply keeps the original. A new per-preset "Guard" option in Settings (on by default) lets you switch this safeguard off for a preset when you want it applied unconditionally.

new Join the beta program right from the General settings to keep receiving early versions even after installing a regular release - and leave again anytime by turning the option off. (Not available in the App Store version.)

upd Smoother scanning throughout: your scanner is selected automatically when only one is connected, live status shows the page count and lamp warm-up, and there is a helpful hint for Fujitsu ScanSnap users.

upd Faster, smaller compression: Black & White pages are now stored as true black-and-white images for dramatically smaller files, and applying a compression no longer takes an extra pass just to measure the result.

upd The support form now lets you capture and attach a screenshot with a single click, always attaches the log files, and offers a button to re-attach them.

fix More reliable connections to network and Wi-Fi scanners, with a clear explanation and a "Try Again" button when a scanner cannot be opened.

fix Black & white and full-page scans now work on many more scanners, and the resolution you choose is always honored for crisp results.

fix The built-in compression presets now shrink documents reliably while keeping text readable, and Grayscale and Black & White compression keep your document searchable and selectable.

fix Compression no longer enlarges files - including OCR through the quick action and already small or well-compressed PDFs, in the app and through the Finder quick action and Shortcuts alike.

fix Cancelling a scan now stops it right away instead of leaving the progress indicator spinning.

fix Importing certain JPG photos from Apple Photos (such as cropped or HDR shots) no longer fails or produces a blank page.

fix Text recognition with the alternative OCR engine no longer freezes partway through and now completes reliably.

For news please follow mastodon.social/@holtwick.

If you like PDFify you might also enjoy Receipts.

In case of update problems please download the current version directly from https://pdfify.app or contact support.
